Martha Lucas is a Seattle Native, a proud Garfield Bulldog, Woof, Woof:) and double Husky. Martha was raised in the University of Washington Student housing, which played a huge part in driving her passions for diversity and inclusion, having an open mindset, and life long learning. Born in Ethiopia, but raised in Seatown by two proud villagers since the age of two years old Martha identifies as both African and African American. Martha received her Masters in Health Management and considers one of her highest honors came from an unexpected challenge during her early part of her management residency at Harris Methodist Hospital, the largest hospital in Fort Worth, TX. Martha’s mentor, the Hospital’s President tasked her with managing the largest departmental budget, which was $25M.
Martha was shocked to have been trusted with the responsibility and was the first intern to hold that responsibility. As Martha has demonstrated throughout her decades long customer service and management careers, receiving the trust of fiduciary duties, whether it is managing a $100 cash box or $25M budget, is not a responsibility Martha takes lightly and she respects all managers, officers, and clients that have extended their trust in her integrity.
Martha is excited to join with the Board of Directors and soon announce our organizational goals and vision for WSCACL’s bright future.
