Scheduling online is the fastest and easiest way to get an appointment. Appointments are released each week on Mondays at 9:00am, so this is the best time to try to schedule. If the appointments are filled, try again the following Monday. Please keep in mind that we serve many households each year, all trying to receive help, so it may take several attempts before you can schedule an appointment. Appointments are in highest demand in the fall.

Packet Drop Off

Hopelink is now trying a new method of applying for LIHEAP and/or PSE HELP assistance by offering participants the ability to complete their own application and dropping it along with copies of required documentation to your local Hopelink center.

Program Overview

Hopelink may be able to provide up to $1,000 of your home heating costs each year. If you qualify for the program, you can receive assistance even if you are not behind on your bill and/or have not received a shut-off notice. The goal of Hopelink’s energy program is to keep members of our community safe and warm, and to contribute to a stable home environment. We believe a household should never have to choose between heat and electricity or other necessities, such as food, health care, or shelter. Energy assistance funds enable our community members to devote their resources to other crucial expenses. Funding is currently plentiful and we encourage those who live in our service area to schedule an appointment. Eligible households with the highest heat costs receive the greatest assistance.

Grants range from $100 to $1,000 per household, and vary from year to year based on:

  • Cost to heat a home over the previous 12 months
  • Household’s average monthly income
  • Number of people in the household

LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance)
Funding Available October through June each year

  • Natural Gas
  • Electricity
  • Oil
  • Propane
  • Wood and wood pellets

LIHEAP grants can also cover situations where your heat bill is included as part of your rent.

PSE HELP (Puget Sound Energy – Home Energy Lifeline Program)

The PSE HELP Grant is available to Puget Sound Energy Customers. PSE Customers may qualify for both LIHEAP and PSE HELP.

People who have been disconnected or have less than a 10-day supply of oil, wood or propane, should call their nearest center to schedule an emergency appointment: Click Here to Find a Hopelink Center Near You!

In addition, those who have a disconnection notice should contact their energy provider immediately.

NEW: Packet Drop Off

Hopelink is now trying a new method of applying for LIHEAP and/or PSE HELP assistance by offering participants the ability to complete their own application and dropping it along with copies of required documentation to your local Hopelink center! If you would like to complete an application packet on your own, you can go to any center and receive a packet to fill out or you can download it here.

Each center will have set hours where Energy staff will be available to review applications being dropped off with this method. Please inquire with your local center for schedule.

Our goal is to get funds to you as quickly as possible. Bringing all the required documents to your appointment will help us process your application faster. Please see this checklist of needed paperwork to bring with you: ENERGY ASSISTANCE CHECKLIST

Energy Assistance Checklist in Other Languages:

An application may take up to 6 weeks to complete. Continue paying bills and/or make payment arrangements to prevent disconnection. Once complete, Hopelink will send a letter informing applicants whether they qualify.
