Co-Governance Leadership Model
The Washington State Coalition of African Community Leaders (WSCACL) nonprofit organization was founded in 2017 by a handful of African-led nonprofits servicing the needs of the African community in the state of Washington.
We have since grown into the largest and most diverse African diaspora-led nonprofit serving in the state of Washington with over 170 members.
Our innovative shared co-governance model includes the sharing of high-level organizational operations decision-making between the Executive Director and a 35+ member Community Advisory Council, which includes representation from the LGBTQIA+, interfaith leaders, and community leaders or parents from every region of Africa, Caribbean, and African American communities.
FUN FACT: Just 20 of the 35+ council members have a combined social media reach of over 140,000+ across the state.
